In general, we found that the pre-production mostly followed the time line that we created. All the storyboard, script, prop list was done on time. Personally, I really like the script that we were creating. The blog posts also keep up with the groups production. However, one of the things that we found not really good about our pre - production is that some of our plan could have be done better.
For instance, I'm not really like our prop lists because it is too general, it could be more specific and also could be more details, especially with the requirement. In the props lists, we should have included some drawn examples of how we want the props to look like. Furthermore, we should have check on the props before going on set rather than go to the set and create the props during the shooting day, make everything become rushing and inflexible.
Also, the storyboard should have included more details on the camera angle, the lighting, the camera movement so that it would be more clear to us in the future work.
For instance, lack of details storyboard make it harder for us to know what exactly needed to be filmed in the first shooting day. On that day, we waste a lot of time imagining and fixing the scene on screen.
Next, is the timeline. During the starting point of this project, we were too naïve and think that we could finish this project within 1 month but not, it take us about 2 month to complete the project. This fact make the timeline quickly become useless after the first shooting day because after that day, a lot of footages needed for re-shoot.
Nevertheless, our research on the title sequence could have been carried out deeper because as we rewatch the final product, we have not attribute enough main people in the crew. As the editor, I forget to attribute the cinematographer (cameraman) inside the film opening. In order to make the problem less serious, we have credit the cinematographer, Nguyen Dinh Uy (me) in the YouTube video description.
Finally, we could have include some more planning such as a detailed budget instead of putting it inside the props lists to make it easier for us to see how much money have we spent on the project as well as a more detailed shooting plan rather than a document with just a few text on it. A detailed shooting plan would make it easier for us to film at that filming day. Also, we could include the risk management, which is very important cause it make you become more active when surprise situation happened. Luckily, there aren't any serious risk, problem occurs on both of our shooting day.
From that, I have learned the importance of having a strong and detailed plan at the beginning.
