THE INSPIRATION FROM THE TOMBSTONES
As darkness takes over, the town is covered in awkward silence. Breathe in. You can feel the smell of blood and rot in the air, signifying the awakening of devils and crimes. In that pitch-black painting, the moon shines its coldest light on a corner of the town, making everyone's spine chill when they look at it. Welcome to the graveyard, a bridge that connects the world of the living and the dead. It is where wandering souls are everywhere, formed because of hatred, suffering, or uncompleted dreams. Not only that, but the tombstones are a warning of ancestors to the presentation; no one will be afraid of war if there are no fallen heroes' tombstones to warn them of the danger of war. In the past, great generals have put the corpses of the enemies outside their castle to show off and to warn every other opposing force.
However, besides the sense of darkness and death that the graveyard gives, it can sometimes also show relief. While some fear dying, for others, dying can be the way to free themselves from this cruel world. While the graveyard reminds some people of their vengeance and dark past, the cemetery is where others pray to show respect for people who have passed away.
WHY "The Graveyard"?
I see my movie in that image of tombstones and darkness from that graveyard description. In my short film, there is a crime; a girl is killed. However, her death has more value than just death itself. It exposes the dark side of every soul (every character): wrath, lust, greed, and gluttony. That death is a direct bullet to awaken parents who are not showing enough caring for their children or too much caring, making it a toxic "love." Her death is also a warning to teenagers about the danger of social media in this media-saturated world. The title "The Graveyard" can make it a place to show respect to teenagers who commit suicide every year, everywhere in this globe, "thanks" to the massive stress this world is creating. The sad thing is that sometimes, the one closest to them is making them stressed or being careless about their problems. A haunting and scary name such as "The Graveyard" will emphasize those messages when delivered to the viewers.
