HOW SUCCESFUL WAS THE PRODUCTION

Updated: Apr 14, 2024

In general, the production of the project took place smoothly without a lot of problems in terms of planning. The only problem was that the phase was delayed by exams and the Vietnamese Tet Holiday which made the phase go longer than we expected.

Thanks to our well-planned shot list, we did not forget to film any of the scenes that we needed. We follow a chronological order of which scene to film, where, and at what time. The prop list also contributed to the success as it guaranteed that we did not forget any props/costumes on the shooting day. Also, with the help of the 2 plans, we complete the filming phase within our expected amount of days: 3-4 days.

However, it was the location recce that I should have spent more effort on. The location of the Pho stall was too crowded at the time we filmed, making most of the conversation at that destination inaudible. Also, we did not take into consideration the weather that much which made us pay the price: during the second shooting day, it was because of the rain that delayed our process. The location recce did help us as we considered the lighting of the location, allowing us to know whether we needed to bring our lights or not.

The main problem we were having was about the technical aspect during the filming: the setting on the camera was wrong. On the first day, the colour balance was off, making the footage look blueish. Also, we used different cameras during the phase, creating differences in not only colour but also the quality of the footage. On the last day, day 04, we forgot to adjust the ISO, making the footage grainy/noisy, and requiring adjustment during the post-production.

Other than that, I believe that we have done our best during the production phase of the project, for the next occasion, I will spend more time on the location recce to make a more detailed analysis and remember to check the settings of the camera before shooting as well as checking the weather!
